arts community project, Toronto
An existing industrial red brick low rise building has been reimagined to be respositioned to introduce a newly designed interior space to celebrate creative and artisitic talent and create an arts community. Influenced by Milan’s industrial buildings and entryways, we wanted to juxtapose the banal exterior by injecting moments of surprise through archways and bold hues. As you enter through the main studio space, it has been opened up to expose the steel decking and HVAC which is painted out in a deep forest green. The eleven foot walls provide a back drop before entering into the kitchen and washroom area. The double archway is layered in bronze tones and frames the pistachio tiled wall that highlights the cantilevered kitchen cabinetry and stainless steel countertop.
